Your generous donations make Habitat’s local mission possible.

*Please note that the following information is meant to serve as general guidelines for donations. Acceptable items are subject to change. Legal restriction and limited storage capacity prevent the acceptance of some items.  For additional details please call 816-886-7374.

Appliances

What We Can Accept:

Clean, 100% working order with all parts, 10 years or newer

What We Cannot Accept:

Built In Ovens/ Dishwasher/ Water Heaters/ Faucets (Government law)

Cabinets & Counter Tops

What We Can Accept:

Complete cabinets only with all doors and drawers, clean,
presentable, in usable condition.

What We Cannot Accept:

  • Formica countertops
  • Countertops with cut outs
  • Any cabinet that shows signs of mold, or is otherwise unsalable
Building Materials

What We Can Accept:

  • Drywall: Full or half sheets only, no watermarks or broken corners
  • Roofing: Shingles in complete packages, full lengths of metal roofing
  • Rolls of roofing material, in good condition, half rolls or greater.
  • Metal roofing materials and gutters, full pieces in good condition with no rust or damage.
  • Rigid foam insulation in new condition and in usable quantities.
  • Fiberglass insulation in full, sealed bats only.
  • Bricks in good, intact condition*.
  • Concrete blocks in good, intact condition*.
  • Architectural salvage items in good, salable condition.

*Masonry pick-ups in excess of 50 pieces must be palletized before the time of donation.

What We Cannot Accept:

  • Any insulation with evidence of staining or other damage
  • Shingles not in package, or otherwise damaged
  • Any item showing signs of rot or damage
  • Any broken or partial bricks and concrete blocks
  • Vinyl or composite siding from individual donors
Doors

What We Can Accept:

Good, clean condition, all exposed nails removed, no cracks, holes or rotting

What We Cannot Accept:

  • Shower doors
  • Sliding Glass Doors
  • Commercial Doors
  • Garage Doors
  • Any item with evidence of rot, cracking, or other damage
Electrical

What We Can Accept:

  • Plug outlets, switches, and other in-wall components in like-new or new condition.
  • Residential fittings in good, working condition
  • Electrical wire in good or new condition, and in usable quantities

What We Cannot Accept:

  • Used electrical breakers in any condition
  • Smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, and other safety equipment
  • Any item that shows signs of rust, excessive wear, previous exposure to a short, or any other damage
Furniture

What We Can Accept:

Clean, free of rips, tears and stains, no mattresses or sleeper sofas, good
presentable condition and of no need of repair

What We Cannot Accept:

  • Unframed glass/ Mirrors
  • China Cabinets / Hutches
  • Sofa Sleepers
  • Entertainment Centers
  • Metal Desks
  • Large Office Desks
  • Baby Cribs
  • Toys/ Stuffed Animals
  • Box Springs/ Mattresses
  • Broken/ Disassembled/ Soiled furniture
  • Clothing / Bedding
Flooring

What We Can Accept:

New carpet, linoleum, ceramic tile or vinyl tile

What We Cannot Accept:

Used flooring (carpet, vinyl, tile) or loose tile

 

Hardware

What We Can Accept:

New or gently used hardware for door and cabinets

What We Cannot Accept:

  • Incomplete items
  • Any item with signs of rust or other damage
  • Individual items such and nails or screws, not in containers or sorted
Garden & Outdoor

What We Can Accept:

  • Outdoor furniture in good condition, free of damage and staining.
  • Garden hand tools in good condition, free of rust.
  • Gas outdoor tools, in full working condition with emptied gas tank.
  • Electric outdoor tools, in full working condition with cords and batteries intact.

What We Cannot Accept:

  • Hot tubs
  • Trampolines
  • Swing sets and playground equipment
  • Pools
  • Hazardous Chemicals, pesticides or anything in unmarked containers
Lighting

What We Can Accept:

  • Residential fixtures, in good working order, with no missing or damaged components.
  • Commercial fixtures with the exception of drop ceiling fixtures, in full working order.
  • LED lightbulbs new and in original package

What We Cannot Accept:

  • Any item with signs of damage or faults
  • Fluorescent tubes, incandescent and CFL lightbulbs
  • Fluorescent Fixtures
Home Decor

 What We Can Accept:

  • Dishware, glassware, and silverware in clean, reusable condition.
  • Holiday decor in good condition and full working order, depending on the season.
  • Other home decor in good condition.
  • Antique and collectible items in good condition.
  • Curtains that are in like new, or new condition only.

What We Cannot Accept:

  • Toys/ Stuffed Animals
  • Box Springs/ Mattresses
  • Broken/ Disassembled/ Soiled furniture
  • Clothing
Media

What We Can Accept:

  • Hardcover books
  • Softcover books
  • Magazines
  • Records
  • CDs
  • DVDs
  • Blu-rays

What We Cannot Accept:

  • Old TV’s/ Computer Monitors
  • Outdated electronics
Lumber

What We Can Accept:

  • Plywood, in good condition and at least half-sheet in size
  • Milled lumber in 4′ lengths or greater
  • Trim and molding in 4′ lengths of greater
  • Siding, full lengths and in-box preferred

What We Cannot Accept:

  • Any item with evidence of mold, rot, or termite damage
Plumbing

What We Can Accept:

Plumbing Fixtures: Clean, good and workable condition, toilets must include tank top

What We Cannot Accept:

  • Dishwasher/ Water heaters/ Faucets (Government law)
  • Seashell Sinks
  • Vanity Tops without the cabinet
  • Double Vanity Sinks longer than 6′
  • Wall Mounted Sinks
Tools

What We Can Accept:

  • Hand tools, in good condition, free of rust or damage.
  • Corded power tools, in good working condition with power cord intact and functional.
  • Portable power tools, in good working condition, with working battery and charger.

What We Cannot Accept:

  • Any item showing signs of rust or other damage
  • Corded power tools with frayed or damaged cables
Windows & Screens

What We Can Accept:

Non-Cracked windows, including all panes with exposed nails/screws removed

What We Cannot Accept:

  • Cracked or missing windowpanes, windows with exposed nails/screws 
  • Single Pane Windows
  •  Storm Windows

  • Unframed glass
