ReStore Donations Ambassador – Truck Driver (PT)

person can experience God’s love and can live and grow into all that God intends.
Mission Principles (the “Mission Principles”) of Habitat for Humanity are to: (1) Demonstrate the love and teachings of Jesus Christ; (2) Advocate on behalf of those in need of decent shelter; (3) Focus on shelter by building and renovating simple, decent, affordable houses; (4) Engage a broad community through inclusive leadership and diverse partnerships; (5) Promote dignity through full partnership with Habitat homeowners and future home partners; (6) Promote transformational and sustainable community developments.
With help from our partner families, a wealth of community donors, and volunteers, Truman Habitat has built and financed more than 88 homes for new home buyers and has repaired hundreds more in our mission to support the unmet needs of low-income neighbors in the communities we serve. By working to build and improve homes in our community we stive to make a meaningful difference in the health of neighborhoods throughout EJC.

The ReStore is a discount building materials and home improvement store. Much of the inventory in the store is donated to THHFH by residential or commercial donors. We have a positive impact on the environment by reselling usable items that might have been destined for the landfill. The funds raised from ReStore sales are used to finance the construction or renovation of homes for eligible homeowners in Eastern Jackson County.
Description: The ReStore Donations Ambassador – Truck Driver works as part of a team to acquire donated items and assist in the scheduled pick-up locations, meet with donors as an ambassador of Truman Habitat by providing excellent customer service, and loads/unloads donations (lifting furniture, appliances, building materials etc in excess of 75 lbs is frequently required. Unloading donations into the ReStores and placing items in the store under Store Management discretion.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provides stellar customer services and acts as an ambassador for Truman Habitat
Operates donation trucks in a safe, lawful, and courteous manner
Maintain cleanliness of trucks interior and exterior daily/weekly
Regular maintenance checks to ensure readiness of truck and equipment at all times including reporting any maintenance concerns to manager
Daily trucks safety checks to ensure the truck is safe to be on the road
Ability to screen for product usability (gently used or new items only)
Maintain an effective working relationship with ReStore staff, customers, volunteers and donors
Loading/Unloading of donations in a safe and efficient manner
Professional and courteous interaction with donors including utmost care and concern for personal property
Assist with donation processing, recycling, and store needs when not assigned to truck
Must be eligible to be added to Truman Habitat’s vehicle insurance – this requires a valid driver’s license and a favorable driving record
Other Duties:
Communicate mission of Habitat for Humanity
Assist with Truman Habitat special events as needed
Comply with all policies and procedures
Other duties as assigned by the Logistics Supervisor and/or ReStore Management
Preferred Qualifications & Proficiencies:
Understanding and support of the vision of Truman Heritage Habitat for Humanity
Must be willing to understand the big picture of Truman Habitat’s ministry and know that the ReStore is only a part of the larger mission
Team building a plus
Must have reliable transportation and ability to work at different locations at times
Must be a great listener and able to engage in a well-considered discussion about Habitat’s mission
Must pass a Criminal Background Check, a Driving Record Check and Sexual Offender Check
Physical Requirements Necessary to Perform This Job:
This position requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time; to move and handle boxes of merchandise, furniture, appliances, and other fixtures over varied terrain including stairs and through doorways; entails frequently lifting up to 75 lbs or more on occasion.
Work Environment and Conditions
Job requires work to be performed indoors and outdoors at various donation sites and in a box truck driving/riding
Occasional work in the ReStore warehouse
Must be comfortable working with the public and have good verbal communication skills
Work Schedule
This is a part-time position. Days and hours of work are usually Tuesday through Friday, 8-5 p.m. and occasional Saturdays 9-2 p.m., based on the needs of the business. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Compensation: Pay range is $18 – $20 per hour
